Philly Native, NJ Prosecutor's Sgt Eric Wise Dies Days After Fall

Eric Wise, a 44-year-old sergeant with the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, died on Friday, Feb. 14, days after sustaining serious injuries in a fall on Monday, Feb. 10, according to his obituary from the Wimberg Funeral Home website.

Born in Philadelphia, Wise graduated North Catholic High School in 1999 and from Stockton University in 2004 with a criminal justice degree, his obituary reads.

"Eric’s work as a Detective Sergeant was marked by his professionalism, integrity, and a passion for making a difference in his community," his obituary reads. "Throughout his career in law enforcement Eric earned the respect of colleagues and the admiration of those he served."

Wise was also a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, his obituary reads.

A fundraiser was set up after his fall to support his wife, Antonia and his children, Abigail and Kaelen. As of Tuesday, Feb. 18, more than $79,000 has been raised.

Wise is also survived by his mother, Theresa and numerous other family members, his obituary reads.

A viewing in honor of Wise will be held at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Brigantine at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at noon, according to his obituary.
